Armaplate was formed in 1996 by John Anthony and Simon Waddington. John spent many years as the Fleet Manager of a large utility company and was well aware of the problems caused by constant theft-attacks of light commercial vehicles. In an effort to eradicate the problem, he designed a lock protection system and together with his business partner, Simon, invested heavily in the tooling required to produce the first plates.

The Armaplate UK Lock Protection Systems overcomes the root cause of all break-ins and theft occurred due to the vulnerability of the vehicles locks and surrounding panel areas.

Since it is virtually impossible to insure the contents of these light commercial vehicles, this was proving very costly; hence the need to develop a cost effective deterrent. During the earlier stages of Armaplate’s history, customers chose the system as a speedy and economical repair, following a break-in.

Those same customers now specify Armaplate UK Lock Protection Systems on their vehicles as standard specification from new, to avoid any damage or theft at all.

Initially, the design of the Armaplate UK commercial vehicle security systems, focused principally on Ford Transit and Escort vans. There are now over 70,000 of these vans, which have been fitted with Armaplate Lock Protection!
